Jericoacoara, a centuries old fishing village that over the past few decades has began to attract windsurfers enthuse with it's prevailing sub saharan winds, coupled with a favorable climate and temparate waters of 27 C° all year long. It wasn't until 1998 that the
tourism industry florished in ernest with the coming of electricity
& water throughout the village.
Over the years, many pousadas and restaurants have made Jericoacoara a truly international settlement. Today with the coming of all mod
cons, Jericoacoara maintains its natural beauty and traditional charms
that first attracked the world to its beaches.
The village lays out around three sandy streets that lead up from the sea side into the heart of Jericoaocara. And as constructions are restricted to the palm line, Jericoacoara has preserved its integrety as a coastal fishing village. Its location within a National Park insures its future as an Oasis in the desert. |
